Odd Numbers

With Odd Numbers, Le Motel invites you into a dreamscape that bridges Brussels and Northern Vietnam, weaving vanishing memories with whispers of what's to come.

This exhibition at 254Forest extends Le Motel's ephemeral sonic universe into the visual realm, featuring photos from his travels, videos, and text-based works created with graphic designer Antoine Jaunard and poet Phapxa Chan.

The project explores contrasts between Hanoi's vibrant rhythms and the remote Hmong highlands, where Le Motel captured field recordings, images, and stories through spontaneous collaborations with local creatives. These exchanges evolved into layered compositions of sound and visuals, weaving nature, urban noise, and spoken word into dreamlike harmonies.

Collapsing time and space, Odd Numbers merges analogue and digital, tradition and modernity. A haunting video triptych anchors the experience, blending fragmented imagery with coded abstractions, and echoing the symbolic presence of odd numbers in Vietnamese culture.
