In her debut solo exhibition in Brussels, Anouk Kruithof's Trans Human Nature juxtaposes the raw vitality of the Amazon rainforest with the pervasive influence of technology. Drawing from her immersive experience in Botopasi, Suriname, Kruithof presents a striking blend of photographs and sculptures. Her work combines stock images of technological futures with organic materials, highlighting the complex interaction between traditional rainforest life and modern technological advancements. This exhibition probes the hybrid identities and looming uncertainties of our future, revealing the intricate relationship between humanity, nature, and technology.
About the artist
Anouk Kruithof is a Dutch visual artist known for a multidisciplinary and conceptual approach, blending photography, sculpture installation, collage, artist books, video, text, performance and social interventions. Her work often explores themes like identity, societal issues, and the interplay between the physical and digital worlds. Kruithof splits her time between Brussels, the Netherlands, and a wooden house in Botopasi, Suriname, located deep within the Amazon Rainforest reflecting her deep engagement with diverse environments and cultures.
